…we (Klaus Fischer and Wolfgang Bretl) discussed the possibility of using modern tools to improve classroom teaching in ATC. Covering the knowledge of tower/approach and area control we identified the need for a radar simulator that could be used for classroom teaching. Since this kind of simulator did not exist, we decided to create it – and the idea for ROSE was born. Having access to the experience of eighteen years of programming in assembler and C++ we were basically fit for this task.
